The renowned
CAMPLEX

THERMOMATIC
®
fan heater is
designed to meet the precise heating
and energy conservation demands
required by today’s gardeners. Three
switches provide independent control
of fan only, 2kw and 3kw loadings.
A capillary thermostat provides
accurate temperature control with a
temperature range of 0°C to 40°C. The
fan heater operates from a 220/240V
50
Hz supply and has a power on
neon display lamp and fail-safe thermal
cut-out. In order to provide a robust
heater it is manufactured from steel
with a durable powder coat finish.
NB: In order that the thermostat is
aspirated for a quick temperature
response the fan runs continuously,
but the consumption is only 32 watts.
SOIL WARMING
CABLES
Soil warming cables provide a safe
and simple means of raising the
soil temperature in greenhouses
and cold frames and are ideal for
propagating beds and hot beds. To
provide cost effective and accurate
temperature control one of our rod
type thermostats should be used.
Suggested temperatures are – for
hot beds and propagating frames
14
°C – 16°C and for bench mist
propagation 21°C – 23°C. A range of
sizes is available for both the amateur
gardener and the commercial grower.

ROD THERMOSTATS
The rod thermostats are available
in two styles as shown, namely
the HD908 range which has
the thermostat dial enclosed in a
waterproof box and is recommended
for use where misting equipment is
installed and the HD909 range for
general soil warming. Both models are
available with a choice of three rod
lengths. The rod is manufactured from
polished aluminium.

AIR THERMOSTAT

The air thermostat will give accurate
temperature control of both heating
and cooling appliances. The sensor
is clipped to
the outside of
the box. This,
however, can
be located up to
1.5
m from the
control box by
pulling through
the capillary tube
and securing
with the spare
retaining clip
which is provided.

SOIL STERILISATION
Sterilised soil promotes healthy plant
growth by the destruction of soil-borne
pests, diseases and weed seeds. This
is achieved without harming the
beneficial bacteria.
The simplest, cleanest and most
effective method of carrying out
sterilisation at 86.6°C (180°F), is by
means of
CAMPLEX
®
insulated soil
sterilisers. They are fitted with special
aluminium panel elements having
large surface areas between which the
soil is placed. Uniform temperature is
obtained throughout. The electrical
loading remains constant and is
unaffected by the nature of the soil.
Consistent results are thus obtained
without any special experience or
skill. After treatment the soil should
be cooled rapidly and stored in sterile
conditions.
All units are excellent for preparing
John Innes sowing and potting
composts.

SOIL STERILISER
HD5116 – Capacity 210 Ltrs
The largest unit in the range it is
fitted with six 1.5kw elements and is
complete with a dial thermometer
which is fitted through the lid of the
steriliser into the soil. Sterilisation time
is the same as for the two smaller
models with a consumption of 13½
units of electricity. This model should
be connected to a 3 phase supply
and should be installed by a qualified
electrician. The HD5116 Steriliser is
particularly suitable for larger nurseries,
local authorities, etc.
SOIL STERILISER
HD5112 – Capacity 34 Ltrs
Designed for use by the hobby
gardener, the smaller nurseryman
and educational establishments. The
electrical loading is 1.5kW. It is filled
at the top and emptied through the
bottom. Sterilisation time is about 90
minutes with a consumption of 2¼
units of electricity. It is fitted with 2m
heat resistant cable and moulded plug.
Supplied with a dial type thermometer.

This unit is similar to the HD5112 in
construction, but is fitted with two
1.5
kW elements. Sterilisation time is
about 90 minutes with a consumption
of 4½ units of electricity. It is fitted with

m heat resistant cable and moulded
plug. Supplied with a dial type
thermometer. This steriliser makes an
ideal unit for the smaller grower and
horticultural research station.
AUTOMATIC ROOF
VENT OPENER

This opener is the latest in a line of
THERMOFOR

roof vent openers
designed and supplied over the past

years. This model is an attractive
cost effective unit with a unique
opening action, ensuring a smooth
twist free operation, and with the
cylinder mounted within the bracket
to eliminate projection into the
greenhouse. It is finished in a durable
polyester powder coating and is
corrosion resistant throughout. Easily
fitted to aluminium and wooden vents
it will lift up to 7kg (15lbs) i.e. a vent
weighing up to 14kg (glass area not
exceeding 0.75m² in an aluminium
frame), with a maximum opening of
35
cm (14”). Opening temperature
range adjustable between 15°C and
25
°C (59°F and 77°F).
AUTOMATIC
VENTILATION
Ventilation is essential in a greenhouse
to promote healthy, disease free,
growth. We were the originators of
automatic ventilation for greenhouses
and have been at the forefront for
some 60 years. We now manufacture
an opener to suit most roof, side and
louvre vents.
All our openers, suitable for both
aluminium and timber greenhouses,
are fitted with a black cylinder which
enables the opening temperature to
be adjusted between 15°C and 25°C.
